The Atlantic Terrier Association was formed in 1976 with Donald Drury as its first President. It was formed, as its name implies, to promote all breeds in the Terrier Group in Atlantic Canada through Specialty shows, Booster Shows, Obedience Trials, Sanction Matches, Seminars and Educational Speakers. Fun events for the members and their dogs include Walks, Fun Matches, Terrier Trials, Pot Luck Suppers, BBQs and Auctions.

The Atlantic Terrier Association welcomes all owners, fanciers and exhibitors of Terriers to join in and participate in the activities. The Club meets once a month at the home of one of our members with business, an educational period, discussions and snacks. Anyone interested can contact members of the Club at Shows or at our homes.

The ATA promotes the Group 4 Terrier breeds

To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Terriers and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to the highest standard;

To conduct sanctioned matches, booster shows, specialty shows and approved events according to and under the rules of The Canadian Kennel Club and to abide by the principles of The Canadian Kennel Club Code of Ethics;

To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breeds as approved by The Canadian Kennel Club, as the premier standard of excellence;

To do all in its power to protect and advance the interest of the breeds, and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at shows, tests and trials.
